Foreign experts (teachers) are required to follow the rules and regulations of teaching in SDUST, and fulfill the duties based on the employment contract and complete the teaching tasks involved.
Relevant departments will appoint one teacher assistant or more as a coordinator for each foreign expert (teacher) to help with teaching-related issues.
Foreign experts (teachers) take responsibility for recording students’ class attendance, supervising classes, giving and assessing assignments, preparing test papers, grading examination papers, submitting test results, and putting test papers into an archive.
Foreign experts (teachers) should seriously carry out their duties. Lessons may not be individually or randomly re-arranged or combined; absence or early departure from or late arrival in class is not permissible; any personal arrangement for substituting teachers is not permissible. Procedures should be made through Academic Affairs Office with help from Foreign Affairs Office if any teacher can’t go to the class due to any reason.
If foreign experts (teachers) can’t carry on their teaching duties for some reason, they should explain it to Foreign Affairs Office and the employing unit and get their approval.
The performances of foreign experts (teachers) are evaluated by relevant departments and their students. The university praises teachers with outstanding performances, whereas warn those who have poor performances. If the poor performances are continuing after warning, the teachers can be unemployed according to the employment contract.
Foreign experts’ (teachers’) religious beliefs are fully respected, and in return foreign experts (teachers) should respect China’s laws and rules, should not set up religious organizations, religious offices, or religious activity sites. Any forms of preaching and distribution of religious propaganda materials are not allowed in non-religious sites.
Foreign experts (teachers) have the liberty of speech, while speech which maliciously is against the interests of China and smear the image of China is not allowed. Moreover, foreign experts (teachers) are not permitted to organize political activities and disseminate prints and audio-visual products that are prohibited by Chinese law among students.
Jinan campus of SDUST provides a fully furnished accommodation, which satisfies the basic needs of daily life. Foreign experts (teachers) are requested firstly, to take care of the property and facilities of the accommodation; secondly, not to move, disassemble, dispose any facilities without permission; thirdly, to report the damage of the facilities; fourthly, to keep the apartment clean and tidy when they leave. In addition, pets are not allowed in the accommodation.
For safety concerns, foreign experts (teachers) should report the reason, destination, duration and contact information to Foreign Affairs Office when there is the need to leave Jinan campus over 24 hours.
Guests are not allowed to stay in foreign experts’ (teachers’) on-campus accommodation, unless they have the permission from Foreign Affairs Office.
Jinan campus provides a pick-up service for foreign experts’ (teachers’) first arrivals and departures. Except for emergencies, foreign experts (teachers) pay for the transportation and other expenses when there is a need to travel, for example, a tour, visiting, going to a hospital, shopping, etc.
Foreign Affairs Office provides each foreign expert (teacher) with a campus card, and keys to the apartment and office. These items should be returned when foreign experts (teachers) leave Jinan campus. Also, ‘Foreign Expert Certificate’ should be returned if it is given by Foreign Affairs Office of SDUST.
Foreign Affairs Office appoints one student assistant for each foreign expert (teacher) to help with daily life, such as the preparation of teaching materials, the ordering of bottled water, train or flight tickets, mailing, shopping, and so on.
